Iyengar Yoga
Yoga unites the mind, body, and spirit. It is a therapeutic practice that is used to treat many ailments. Yoga creates awareness of your posture and helps with alignment through movement patterns. It can help your body become more flexible and relaxed and help eliminate aches and pains.
We practice Iyengar, a form of Hatha Yoga that develops strength, mobility, and stability through poses and breath control. Progress is achieved at one’s own pace as you move from simple to more complex poses to develop your mind, body, and spirit step-by-step.
Iyengar yoga is for all ages, fitness levels, and body types. It is a methodical, introspective method that brings awareness of body, mental, and emotional health. This method originates from the teaching of BKS Iyengar and his more than 75 years of teaching worldwide.
Teachers of this method are rigorously trained and held to a high standard of excellence. Clear demonstrations, correction of alignment, specific instruction on postures, and teaching steeped in philosophy are characteristic of Iyengar teaching. Teachers are trained with knowledge of modification in yoga postures to address body types and health issues.
